It’s that time of year again. When the temperatures start to drop, leaves have changed and begun to fall. The time when we pack up our shorts and sandals and pull out the sweaters and winter boots.
I’m a summer girly through and through. I thrive in the warm weather and the sunshine, But the coziness that comes with the changing of the seasons and joy of the holidays that comes with it, is so magical and special, I love it so much. I’m also a freeze baby, so I don’t enjoy being cold. The months of January through March are my least favorite, no fun holidays to look forward to, just cold and depressing. It’s easy to get the winter blues and get into a funk when it’s so cold and dreary out.
One of the best ways to get out of that funk for me is to do some self care and put on an outfit that I love and feel good and confident in. Other things that help is reading a really good book, maybe some online shopping, or pampering. This one might sound strange, but moving things around in my house. Sometimes you just need a refresh, a new perspective.
I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite fall/winter items that I think are adorable, cozy, and affordable. They are also super versatile and can be styled lots of different ways. I love finding things that are super trendy, but not having to pay the designer price. I mean… in this economy, who doesn’t love saving money? am I right?

Let’s talk, SHOES…. we all love the cute Ugg boots, the ones trending right now, the mini ankle ones, either platform or regular. Well, I found a brand on Amazon that is a great look for less, and I love them! They are warm, cute, and a fraction of the cost of Uggs. I’ll link the ones I have along with the platform boots, I don’t have them, but they are super cute.

I also really love the Clogs, or as I’ve heard them called, potato shoes, which I wont argue with, they definitely look like a potato, but I think they are fun; and pair well with a lot of different outfits. Leggings, jeans, bike shorts, and even jean shorts in the spring. I got mine on Amazon. But I know you can get them at Target and Walmart as well. I even got one of my daughters a pair to match, I found hers at Target.
Layers upon layers….
We all need good layering pieces, shackets and flannels are a must-have in your closet for that. I have a few shackets from Amazon that I got last year, and I also got one this year from Aerie as well as a flannel from AE. Both have become favorites of mine. Hopefully, you can snag them during one of their sales. The Amazon and Aerie shackets have lots of cute colors to choose from.

If you love comfy sweatshirts that are oversized, then you’ll love the Big Hug Sweatshirt from American Eagle. The name is very fitting. It’s oversized, soft, and so comfy. I got the crewneck in the color olive, but it’s basically sold out. I saw they have a v neck version that looks SO cute, and the color in the picture (pine) ugh, its sooo perfect for the holidays!!
What’s your go to? Leggings or jeans?
I’m curious, leggings or jeans? I love love my leggings, I’m a busy mom of 5, so I’m constantly on the go, chasing my toddlers around, taking my older ones here and there. So you will definitely see me in leggings more than anything. But it’s nice to throw some jeans on every once in a while, to look a little more put together.
I know there are A LOT of options when it comes to leggings, and I think once we find what we love, we stick to it. I have tried lots of Amazon brands, like the popular CRZ Yoga, Heynuts, and some others. But…… I have found my ride or die brand, my all time favorite. with a lot of leggings, I find they don’t fit around my ankles, and by that I mean they are loose and don’t fit tight around them and I REALLY hate it.
My go to leggings are from Aerie. They are so smooth and soft, they have the perfect amount of compression to hold everything in. They fit nice around my ankles (which is a deal breaker for me if they don’t). I seriously love them so much. I recently got the brown color in them; called Deep Earth. Brown is really on trend this year, and I’m here for it! I will link the ones I have from Aerie as well as the CRZ Yoga brand on Amazon. I do like the ones I have from them, they are really soft, my only complaint is that they aren’t snug around my ankles.

If you’re going for a little bit more of a put together look or elevated style. You could opt for some jeans or even faux leather leggings. If you haven’t tried the baggy jeans trend yet, YOU NEED TO! I was skeptical at first, but I got a couple pairs from American Eagle (yes its one of my favorite stores ever, I could go broke shopping there) but the baggy jeans are so comfy its like you’re not even wearing jeans, and they are super cute.

Not so basic, basics
Wrapping this up with some good basics for layering or even wearing alone, especially in the summer, but for the colder months they are perfect with shackets, flannels or anything you’d like to pair them with.
These are all from Amazon and come in sets of 3. The long sleeve shirts are incredibly soft, and the v neck adds a nice detail so you can dress them up or down. The ribbed camisoles are SO good, plenty of stretch to them. They come in different lenght options, cropped, long crop or waist length (I got waist length), and they have so many color options. The one shoulder camisoles were just too cute to pass up, and I’m so glad I didn’t. They’re just really great staples to have in your closet.

I hope this post gave you some inspiration and ideas for outfits you can put together. I’d love to know if you have a brand of leggings you absolutely love or if you’ve tried the Aerie ones? I know Lululemon is a popular brand that everyone generally compares the quality of all leggings to, but I personally have never tried them, so I can’t say if the Aerie or Amazon ones are comparable.
